Data Subject

A data subject is an identified or identifiable individual whose personal data is being processed.

Under the GDPR, an individual may be identifiable directly, such as through a name, or indirectly through identifiers such as an identification number, online identifier, location data, or other characteristics.

Examples of data subjects include customers, employees, job applicants, website visitors, patients, and business contacts.

Privacy laws provide data subjects with various rights concerning their personal information, including rights of access, deletion, correction, and objection depending on the applicable law.
