AI Inventory

An AI inventory is a structured record of the AI systems, models, agents, tools, and AI-enabled applications used within an organization.

An inventory may include information such as the system owner, business purpose, vendor, model, data accessed, level of autonomy, approval status, and applicable assessments or policies.

AI inventories are an important foundation for AI governance because organizations cannot effectively assess or monitor systems they do not know exist.

A useful AI inventory should also remain current as employees adopt new tools, vendors introduce AI capabilities, and existing systems change.
