June 2024 MineOS Product Updates
This past month we’ve put our efforts mainly into refining our platform to ensure it remains at the cutting edge of data governance. Recently we’ve rolled out a series of updates that will significantly improve the user experience and overall flexibility of conducting privacy assessments—a critical part of compliance.
Custom Assessments: New Blocks and Templates
Last month, we hinted at the upcoming release of our new custom privacy assessments module. Today, we are excited to announce that it’s officially here, bringing a host of new features designed to make privacy assessments smarter and more efficient.
New Blocks for Smarter Assessments
We’ve added a variety of new blocks, which are values you add to your assessments to enhance their detail and effectiveness. When building an assessment these include:
- Data Subjects: Identify and categorize individuals whose data is being processed.
- Business Units: Link assessments to specific business units for better organization.
- Assessment Links: Create connections between different assessments to maintain context and continuity - paint the full picture of compliance more easily.
- And more: Our update brings other blocks to enrich privacy assessments - go check them out in the portal under Compliance > Assessments today.
Predefined Assessment Templates
In addition to new blocks, we have introduced three predefined templates so that organizations can simply fill in the blanks and generate their report:
- Privacy Impact Assessments (PIA)
- Transfer Impact Assessments (TIA)
- Legitimate Interests Assessments (LIA)
These templates are ready to use immediately as-is, or you can customize and build upon them to suit your organization’s specific needs, without starting from scratch!
What’s Next?
We’re not stopping here, and have more planned for assessments in July and beyond. Several additional blocks and features are still in development and will be released soon, including:
- Data Types and Data Flow Blocks: To map out the specific types of data and how they move through your systems, expressed within an assessment for maximum detail and context.
- Multiple Choice Blocks: For more flexible and varied assessment questions that will help you conform a unique activity to what’s expected for compliance.
- Sorting and Filtering Options: To make navigating through assessments even more intuitive.
- Column Pickers and Export Functions: For better data management and reporting.
Selective Email Discovery for Google Groups
A new enhancement to our email discovery feature gives clients the option to scan specific groups from their directory rather than the entire corporate inbox, when in the process of scanning for data sources and employee usage and access.
By focusing on specific Google Groups, organizations can:
- Increase Precision: Narrow the scope of email discovery to relevant groups, reducing noise and irrelevant data.
- Improve Insights: Gain clearer insights into which systems process sensitive data and better identify key employees, such as power users or data "owners."
- Enhance Privacy: Limit the extent of email scanning to respect privacy and focus on critical areas.
From the first initial scan of the corporate inbox, companies can discover the most crucial systems processing their customers’ or users’ sensitive data. This includes identifying which employees have access to this data and how frequently they access it. It’s one of the main reasons we pride ourselves on providing a more detailed map of data usage across the organization from square one - not after days or weeks of scanning.
